Handover of Die Duine Primary begins the ASIDI Western Cape rollout

The Deputy Minister of Basic Education, Enver Surty will on Tuesday, 2 September 2014 hand over Die Duine Primary School in Lotus River, in Cape Town, Western Cape as part of the Accelerated Schools Infrastructure Delivery Initiative (ASIDI).

ASIDI, which began in 2011 as a direct response to the grave infrastructure needs facing South African schools, particularly those in rural communities, has to date delivered 70 schools in the Eastern Cape and has created more than ten thousand job opportunities in the process.

As a national infrastructure delivery initiative, ASIDI will see a total of 25 schools built over two phases in the Western Cape, with the 11 schools in batch one envisaged for completion in December 2014.
