The 3rd annual Government Chief Information Officers Council (GITOC) Summit will be hosted by the Department of Public Service and Administration from 28 to 30 May 2013, at the International Convention Centre in Cape Town.
The Government Chief Information Officers Summit is an annual strategic event of the Government Information Technology Officers Council (GITOC) tasked with keeping government business abreast of the world of Information Technology for proper implementation and quality service delivery.
The annual event to be held under theme “towards reducing costs of doing business in government and contributing towards achieving clean audit” will provide an opportunity for delegates to strategise and discuss at length specific topical issues impacting on the function of the GITO Council members. The event is expected to host up to 200 delegates including ten international delegates.
The Council will be holding the CIO summit as part of a continuous drive to prioritise the enhancement of government’s ICT strategic business through knowledge sharing.
The summit will identify alignment opportunities to link the current strategies with the NDP. Other objectives include identifying ICT skills that will support proper implementation of government ICT frameworks; reviewing the impact of FOSS implementation within the public administration; positioning governance of ICT to enable public administration to achieve a clean audit; identifying measures to effectively monitor IT cost/spending in government; and mapping a forward looking roadmap until 2020.
