Government celebrates Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP)

The Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) will for the first time celebrate the National EPWP week since its inception in 2004. The National EPWP Week is an awareness campaign by the Department of Public Works (DPW) with the objective to heighten communication on EPWP. The week-long campaign is intended to re-iterate the role of EPWP in changing the lives of poor and unemployed South Africans.

The campaign seeks to continue building on the on-going EPWP awareness within the broader South African community. During this week, all implementers of the Programme are encouraged to participate by embarking on events such as project visits, launches, sod-turning activities and site handovers.
