The Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, General Bheki Cele, will officiate the opening ceremony of the KwaZulu-Natal Agricultural Union (Kwanalu) 16th Annual Congress which will be held in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal.

Kwanalu is a fully integrated non-racial, gender sensitive organisation for commercial and small-scale farmers and it remains a key stakeholder and credible organisation in KwaZulu-Natal dealing with agricultural issues. In responding to the priorities of government Kwanalu is currently implementing a project which is developing and mentoring the youth to be well placed commercial farmers.
General Bheki Cele will address the congress and focus specifically on dealing with the importance of partnership with private sector in addressing the priorities of government and robustly respond to issues of food security, job creation and significant contribution to the gross domestic product (GDP) of the country.
