One thousand women in their traditional and vintage outfits walk 5.9 km
More than one thousand women dressed up in their traditional and vintage outfits will take part in the 5.9 kilometers walk in commemoration of Women’s month and Heritage month.
The Gauteng Department of Social Development in partnership with Eldorado Park Local Drug Action Committee (LDAC) will lead a walk.
The walk is a reminder of the purpose of 1956 march and display solidarity against any form of abuse. The joint partnership is aiming to raise awareness on any form of abuse such as substance abuse, Gender Based Violence, domestic violence, in promoting gender equality in relation to women’s human rights and to create a platform for Women’s Forum to thrive.
The walk also aims to encourage women in the community to be aware of their human rights regarding gender transformation and equality. Women will walk and distribute Service Delivery promotional material to people living within the 5,9 km radius from the Stadium
