Gauteng Government to host provincial games for older persons
The Gauteng Provincial Government (GPG) will give older persons a platform to display their talents in sport, indigenous and fun games.
The Golden Games, which are hosted by the Gauteng Department of Social Development (GDSD) together with the Department of Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation (GSACR), are aimed at promoting active ageing, healthy lifestyle and social integration amongst older persons.
Activities earmarked on the day include rugby ball throw, jukskei, ring the stick, ball pass and kick, ball relay, goal shooting, duck walk, dress-up race, 100 and 800 meters run.
Winners of the games will represent the province at the National Golden Games to take place at Eastern Cape next month.
