Anti-substance and drug abuse campaign in Eersterust
The Gauteng Department of Social Development will embark on a door to door campaign in Eersterust, Tshwane with the aim of involving the community in eradicating the scourge and providing information about substance abuse.
Eersterust is one of the areas in Gauteng that have been spotted by the department where substance abuse is prevalent. Local stakeholders together with community leaders will be knocking in each household door with the aim of education people particularly youth about the danger of substance abuse.
The majority of unemployed and frustrated youth turn to drugs such as alcohol and nyaope with the aim of running away from problems. The coordinators will interact face to face with the victims by providing assistance.
