Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport will on Thursday, 23 March 2023 host a consultative workshop with the players in the value chain vehicle number plate production at the Lakes hotel and conference centre, Benoni.
The aim of the workshop is to ensure all stakeholders involved in the production of number plates, including manufacturers and embossers, are properly accredited and comply with production regulations, including the compulsory that of the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS).
The introduction of the new number plate methods and measures is set to prevent and completely overhaul the licensing system to enhance efforts to combat crime. Vehicle registration numbers are a way of identifying vehicles, a regulatory and law enforcement tool issued and owned by the state.
