The Gauteng Provincial Legislature will be holding an external public hearing lead by the Petitions Committee

The Gauteng Provincial Legislature’s (GPL) Standing Committee on Petitions led by Hon. Lindiwe Lasindwa, will conduct an external Petitions Hearing in line with its public participation mandate and as part of “Taking the Legislature to the people” initiative. Petitions Hearings are one of many public participation mechanisms that the Legislature uses to afford the people of Gauteng a platform to raise their concerns on matters relating to service delivery.

The Public Hearing has been scheduled to take place as follows:

Date: 17 to 18 November 2012 (Saturday and Sunday)
Time: 9h00 to 15h00
Venue: Carletonville (Merafong Municipality)

The hearing will tackle the petitioners’ concerns in two sessions and further allow petitioners a platform to engage simultaneously with relevant authorities. It also affords authorities and other stakeholders an opportunity to identify and understand the frustrations of the people of Gauteng regarding the lack of service delivery.
