Themed “Following up on our commitment: making your future work better” this year’s children’s Sector Parliament hosted by the Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL), will provide a platform for the children of Gauteng to directly engage with both the GPL and the Gauteng Provincial Government (GPG) on various service delivery and social empowerment issues affecting them.
The session will further assist the GPL to exercise oversight for the recognition, protection, rights, and equality of children across Gauteng. The focus is on monitoring and evaluating the implementation of children`s rights. Deliberations will centre around issues of children`s policies, tolerance, and challenges; and ultimately provide solutions.
Topics for debate during the Sector Parliament are:
• Exploring the possibilities of formalising aftercare services in public primary schools in Gauteng;
• The impact of school infrastructure on the provision of quality learning and teaching; and
• Assessing the pitfalls and benefits of the Gauteng Department of Education’s online applications.
The Children’s Sector Parliament is scheduled to convene as follows:
Venue: Laudium Community Centre, Tshwane
Date: Friday, 04 August 2023
Time: 10h00am
The GPL remains committed to its Constitutional mandates of oversight, law-making and public participation; and implements programmes that actively seek to improve the quality of life for the people of Gauteng.
