Gauteng Premier David Makhura to address the Provincial Heritage Day Celebration

Gauteng Premier David Makhura will present the keynote address at the Provincial Heritage Celebration at Boipatong Stadium at 10h00 tomorrow to commemorate the 22nd Anniversary of the Boipatong Massacre. The celebrations will include a mass rally at the Boipatong Stadium where members of the community are expected. 

“We must remember and honour the sacrifices that were made in order to lead us to a democratic government where all are equal and where our diversity serves to unify us than divide us. The aim of this year’s heritage celebrations is therefore to promote and popularise our liberation heritage during the transition phase to democracy and reflect on the socio-economic and political achievements of the post-apartheid South Africa,” MEC Bopape said.

Victims and survivor representative groups such as the Khulumani Support Group, Bana ba Modimo, the local church, the civic fraternity will also address the communty. The event will be hosted in partnership with Emfuleni and Sedibeng District Municipalities.
