Gauteng Police Commissioner to brief committee on Uber, Taxify and Meter Taxi violence
The Gauteng Police Commissioner Major General Deliwe De Lange and representatives from other Law Enforcement Agencies in Gauteng will brief the Portfolio Committee on Roads and Transport on plans of dealing with violence amongst Uber, Taxify and Meter Taxi drivers.
This special committee meeting will be followed by a Public Hearing on the Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences (AARTO) Amendment Bill.
The Bill seeks to improve the manner of serving documents to infringers, to add to the functions of the Road Traffic Infringement Authority, to repeal certain obsolete provisions; to establish and administer rehabilitation programmes; to provide for apportionment of penalties; to provide for the establishment of the Appeals Tribunal and matters related thereto; to effect textual corrections; and to provide connected therewith.
