Gauteng Legislature hosts stakeholder engagement session in Khutsong Community Hall, 24 Oct

Led by Chairperson, Honourable Nompi Nhlapo, the Gauteng Provincial Legislature’s Health Portfolio Committee will host a Stakeholder Engagement Session in Khutsong Community Hall.

On Thursday (22 October 2015) and Friday (23 October 2015), the committee conducted unannounced oversight visits to Odi Hospital EMS Base, Bekkersdal EMS Base, Pholosong Hospital EMS Base and Devon Clinic Base to assess the effectiveness of the EMS services.

It is based on the above that the engagement session will be held to assess the findings of the unannounced visit of the sites in the Gauteng Province. Furthermore, the session will provide a platform for stakeholders to participate in the process by making oral and written submissions in the meeting which will be incorporated into the committee’s report to be tabled in the House.

The Session will be held as follows:
Date: Saturday, 24 October 2015
Time: 10h00
Venue: Khutsong Community Hall, Merafong District

In further taking the Legislature to the people, the Gauteng Department of Health will give a presentation on the successes, challenges as well as interventions they will put in place to ensure improvement on the performance of the EMS programme. The Gauteng Department of Health will further provide onsite testing for various illnesses such as HIV, diabetes and any other illness people may wish to test for.

The Health Committee invites all Gauteng Citizens to participate in provincial health matters as we work for a better Gauteng. Members of the media are invited to the session.
