The Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL) will under the theme: “Promoting social cohesion through public participation” host an Interfaith Sector Parliament scheduled to take place as follows:
Date: Monday, 30 March 2015
Venue: Sicelo Community Hall, Midvaal Local Municipality
Time: 10h00
GPL convenes Sector Parliaments annually as part of efforts to fulfil its core mandate of Public Participation. Sector Parliaments are designed to solicit feedback and provide engagement platforms for various sectors of society on service delivery and challenges experienced. This year’s Interfaith Sector Parliament will afford all participants an opportunity to address GPL Members, Gauteng Provincial Departments’ Authorities and various Constitutional bodies on issues affecting them. Furthermore, the engagements will track progress and reflect on the issues raised in the Previous Sector Parliament.
Below will be the topics debated:
- Participation of Faith/Religious groups in the Legislative framework processes.
- Effective role that Faith/Religious groups can play in Community Responsibility Campaigns “CRC” in dealing with societal maladies
- Moral obligation of Faith/Religious sectors to assist the state to realise its moral regeneration program
The programme for the Sector Parliament promises to be informative; exciting; morally reviving as well as stimulate debates and inspire change. The Sector Parliament will be attended by approximately 500 Faith dominations and Organisations from five Gauteng regions; Members of the Gauteng Executive; NGOs and other Sector key role-players.
Members of the Media are invited to attend this session.
