Special Gauteng Legislature sitting to pay tribute to late honourable Nkabinde-Khawe
Tuesday, 5 November 2019, will see Speaker of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL) Honourable Ntombi Mekgwe convene a Special House Sitting to allow Members of the Provincial Legislature (MPLs) to pay tribute and honour the life of late MEC for Social Development Thuliswa Nkabinde-Khawe.
MEC Nkabinde-Khawe lost her life on Friday, 1 November 2019 after being briefly admitted at the Mulbarton Hospital in Alberton. She has been a GPL Member since 2009, and has served in a number of Committees, including in the role of Chairperson of the Social Development Portfolio Committee during the 5th Legislature.
She was appointed as MEC for Social Development after the May 2019 Elections.
During her tenure as an MPL, she demonstrated a passion for engaging in programmes that aimed to eradicate poverty, social protection and social development amongst the poorest of the poor and the most vulnerable in our society.
