Gauteng Legislature’s Standing Committee on Petitions goes to West-Rand Region for petitions external hearing on service delivery issues raised by the members of the public
Led by Chairperson, Honourable Refilwe Mogale, the Gauteng Provincial Legislature’s (GPL) Standing Committee on Petitions will convene a two day external Petitions Hearing to address service delivery concerns raised by various communities in the Randfontein area through petitions.
The Legislature receives concerns and grievances by individuals or representatives of communities in a form of petitions, which are addressed to the Petitions Standing Committee.

The right to petition is given and protected in Sections 17, 115, 118, and 195 of the country’s Constitution, and the Gauteng Petitions Act (5 of 2002). It is against this background that the GPL is going to hold a Petitions Hearing, wherein petitioners will have an opportunity to directly engage with relevant Provincial Government and the Petitions Standing Committee regarding to their petitions.
The GPL invites people around West-Rand (Randfontein area) to participate in this effective and peaceful means of resolving community concerns, grievances and requests without resorting to violent demonstrations.
