Committee to visit Alberton Police Station over crimes committed by funny farm residents

The Gauteng Provincial Legislature’s Portfolio Committee on Community Safety will on Wednesday, 7 February 2024 conduct an oversight visit at the Alberton Police Station.

The oversight visit follows an investigation by a television news series, Carte Blanche, exposing a highly sophisticated syndicate of criminals operating within an informal settlement in Alberton called Funny Farm.

These criminals are alleged to be responsible for various crimes committed in the Alberton town and surrounding areas.  These crimes range from drug dealing, child trafficking, cable theft, hijackings to house robberies to name a few.

The Committee will visit the Alberton Police Station to get an account from the Police Management at the Station on what is being done to deal with the crime syndicate from Funny Farm that has for some time been committed to causing terror in the Alberton Community.
