Gauteng Government kickstarts the rollout of the Transformer Replacement Programme in Kagiso
The Gauteng Provincial Government (GPG), in partnership with Eskom and City Power, will on Tuesday, 24 October 2023, kickstart the Transformer Replacement Programme rollout in Kagiso, West Rand.
The Transfomer Replacement Programme forms part of the Gauteng Energy Response Plan and aims to replace and install transformers in communities in need to respond to the energy challenges in the province.
Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi will lead the first rollout in Kagiso, where residents will benefit from the replacement of 41 transformers.
“While electricity is not directly controlled by our Provincial Government, we are committed to supporting communities in need by installing and replacing transformers”, said Premier Lesufi.
Other communities set to benefit from this programme over the next few weeks include Zola and Dobsonville in Soweto.
