In an effort to boost the number of medical doctors in the province, the Gauteng Department of Health has awarded 120 bursaries to youngsters to study medicine in Cuba.
These youngsters who are leaving the country next month were selected based on their matric performance and financial status amongst other requirements. They will return to the province after six years to make a difference in our hospitals and clinics.
The Gauteng Health MEC, Mr Hope Papo will tomorrow meet the students at Kalafong Hospital to bid farewell, give words of encouragement and to offer them support.
The journalists will also have an opportunity to speak to the departing students as well as their parents who will also be at the event to say their goodbyes.
