Gauteng to award responsible natural management practices
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (GDARD) will be hosting the LandCare Awards will tomorrow to acknowledge deserving projects involved in natural resources management practices.
48 learners from schools around Gauteng Province will also compete for the Junior LandCare awards on the day.
LandCare Awards recognise and reward income generating projects that enhance and conserve natural resources conservation.
GDARD MEC Lebogang Maile says that LandCare Awards are more relevant as they mobilise and encourage communities to actively participate in climate change combating solutions.
“We celebrate and applaud communities who realise the importance of conserving the environment. We are also encouraged by the active participation of young people who will compete in the Junior LandCare Awards,” Maile said.
The Best Cleanest Township and the Best Greener Township will also be awarded in line with the province’s Bontle ke Botho campaign.
