The Department of Energy invites members of the media to attend and cover the stakeholder engagement workshop on the Gas Amendment Bill scheduled to take place in Mafikeng on Monday, 10 June 2013. Cabinet approved the Draft Gas Amendment Bill on 17 April 2013, for publication to solicit public comments.
The Draft Gas Amendment Bill aims to review compliance monitoring and enforcement in the natural gas sector and, incorporate new transportation technologies of natural gas as well as other unconventional gases not explicitly included in the current Gas Act.
The window period for the submission of comments remains open until 1 July 2013.
