Free State National Recreation Day and Big Walk
The Free State Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation (DSACR) will commemorate the National Recreation Day as part of the ongoing campaign to educate society around the importance of recreation and engaging in physical activities.
The theme for this year’s National Recreation Day is “Playing with the Starts” and it is expected that sport personalities from professional Free State clubs such as Bloemfontein Celtic football club, The Knights cricket club and the Crinums netball club will participate in the programme by taking part in mini tournaments with general participants on the day.
2018 marks the 4th edition of the National Recreation Day which will be celebrated in the Free State as follows:

Venue: Mangaung Outdoor Sport Centre; Bloemfontein
Speaking about the importance of this programme MEC Mathabo Leeto stated that, “The objectives of implementing this programme include, among others, to increase and maintain adequate levels of health enhancing physical activities for all South Africans. The department further wishes to contribute to the achievement of optimal health for all our citizens. Lastly, we have embarked on the implementation of this programme in order to improve the health and well-being of the nation by providing participation opportunities through active recreation.”
In addition to the National Recreation Day programme, DSACR will also implement a Big Walk as follows:
