Free State MEC for Health to visit taxi rank in Bloemfontein as part of the TB screening project

The MEC for Health, Dr Benny Malakoane will launch the TB Screening project on 1 July 2013 at the taxi rank opposite the railway station in Harvey Street in Bloemfontein from 9h00.

This activity will focus more on comprehensive care of people utilizing public transport. The main priority is to curb the spread of tuberculosis amongst passengers and drivers.

In relation to achieving the Millenium Development Goals (MDG) by 2015, the launch will amongst others include:

  • Screening services for TB and other non – communicable diseases; intensify and sustain the provision of HIV Counselling and Testing (HCT).
  • Promote greater public awareness and participation in accessing TB and HIV services provided by Government Departments and civil society sectors.

TB Screening will also be facilitated by officials of the department as follows on Monday 01 July 2013 from 9h00 at other venues in the Free State and commuters are encouraged to participate.

  • Manies Taxi Rank in Welkom

2. Fezile Dabi District

  • Kroonstad Taxi Rank in town opposite the train station.

3. Thabo Mofutsanyana District

  • Phudatjithaba Setsing Shopping Complex Taxi Ranks

4. Mangaung Metro

  • Botshabelo, Thaba Nchu and Long Distance Taxi Rank in Bloemfontein at the new Central Park complex

5. Xhariep District

  • Jagersfontein, at the hospital and the taxi rank in Zastron.
