Free State hosts Older Persons Dialogue on issues of Gender Based Violence and Femicide, 17 Nov

The Office of the Premier (OTP) will be embarking on a dialogue with the Older Persons in the Thabo Mofutsanyane District. This comes as an urgent call to intervene after gruesome reports on incidents of gender based violence and femicide have rampant in the Free State Province. 

As part of the continuation of the commemoration of International Older Persons Day, celebrated on the 1st of October 2022, the dialogue will serve as the platform for senior citizens to engage with the Provincial Government on critical issues affecting their lives. 

The discussions seek to promote the older persons right to live in safe and secure environment, this includes the right against any forms of abuse against them. This therefore promoting and allowing the elderly citizens to participate in decision-making on issues affecting them.
