Free State province ready to engage investors

Economic growth initiatives are underpinned by strong and targeted trade and investment promotion. A perfect foundation for thriving investment promotion is a prosperous local economy. To this end, The Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs will host the Investment Conference on the 24th October 2019 at Oliewenhuis Art Museum in Bloemfontein.     

Under the theme, “Promoting investment in the Free State through partnerships”, the Free State will present investment opportunities in Mining, Manufacturing, Agro-Processing, Technology and Green Economy.

The objective with this conference is to present to potential investors, high impact projects in the Free State. The Free State Provincial Government will also launch the 2019 Investment Prospectus aimed at attracting inward investments in to the Free State in order to grow the economy and create jobs.

The Free State delegation will be led by Premier Sisi Ntombela and MEC Makalo Mohale who will talk about investor ready projects and the support from the Free State Government.

According to available statistics, foreign investment into the Free State totalled R8.4 billion in 2017. Furthermore, the province has achieved the status of being a net exporter of goods.

In this regard, the exports from Free State Province amounted to R7. 64 billion and imports to R5.29 billion in 2018 resulting in a positive trade balance of R2.35 billion. It is estimated that the Free State Province had a total Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of R 242 billion in 2018.
