Fisheries Chairperson to meet with Eastern Cape fishermen

The Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Mr Lulu Johnson will today (Wednesday) meet with several fishermen, government officials and other stakeholders in the sector from around Port Elizabeth coastal region at Kwazakhele as part of his parliamentary constituency work.

The meeting will discuss and attempt to find solutions to some of the challenges facing the fishermen as part of poverty relief strategy. Among the critical issues to dominate the discussions are the closure of squid fishing, red tide and the impact of fishing rights allocation process currently administered by the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
