Eskom commemorates 90th anniversary by supporting women in Science and Engineering

The Minister of Public Enterprises Mr Malusi Gigaba, will host the Women in Science and Engineering event at Eskom Training Centre in Midrand. The event forms part of Eskom’s 90th Anniversary commemorations and will knowledge the significance of Women in the Science and Engineering profession. Gauteng Premier Nomvula Mokonyane and the Mayor of Johannesburg Parks Tau will attend the event.

Minister Gigaba will be awarding certificates to top performing maths and science learners from Eskom’s adopted schools. Women from state owned companies (Transnet, SAA, Denel, Broadband Infrac, Alexkor and SAFCOL) in Science and Engineering will also be honoured.   

Eskom already has more than 2 800 university bursaries across the country, and of the 1 700 who are doing technical degrees, 789 are women, Female students whom are Eskom bursary beneficiaries from University of Johannesburg, Wits University, University of Pretoria, Tshwane University of Technology will also be honoured.
