Employment and Labour hosts Western Cape Provincial Dialogue on National Labour Migration Policy and Employment Services Amendment Bill, 25 Jul

The Department of Employment and Labour's Public Employment Services Unit (PES) will host a Provincial Dialogue in the Western Cape on Labour Migration Policy and Employment Services Amendment Bill.

The National Labour Migration Policy and Draft Employment Services Bill were approved by Cabinet in February 2022 and gazetted in March 2022 by Minister of Employment and Labour, Thulas Nxesi.

Various stakeholders including employers, government departments, district and local municipalities, traditional leaders, research and academic institutions, non-government organisations, and constitutional institutions were invited to participate in the dialogue.

The session will discuss among others, innovative practices related to labour migration governance, identify labour migration governance progress, gaps and challenges in the country, and the protection of labour migrants.

Furthermore, the session will provide a platform for tripartite partners to re-organise and re-strategize labour governance. The department aims to ensure that all stakeholders are well-informed and in support of the policy.
