Employment and Labour to host advocacy session targeting work seekers in Athlone and surrounding areas

In an effort to assist work seekers to access available opportunities in the labour market, the Cape Town Public Employment Services (PES), is inviting work-seekers to an advocacy session which will open a platform for work-seekers to interact with potential employers who will be recruiting candidates on the spot.

The session will also assist work-seekers to be registered on the department’s employment database known as Employment Services of South Africa (ESSA), and candidates will be assisted with crafting their curriculum vitae and also be offered career counselling.

The department has a responsibility to contribute to employment creation by ensuring that, people who register as work-seekers are best matched with opportunities available in the labour market.

Regional manager Bhele Mzinyati said “we call upon work seekers in the community of Athlone and surrounding areas to avail themselves of this opportunity. As the department, our efforts are invested in not only registering work seekers but, we want to have opportunities like this one where work seekers will experience immediate results of the PES services.”

The PES unit facilitates the employment of registered work seekers to registered employment opportunities through work seeker registration on the ESSA database, correct matching and screening of candidates to available registered opportunities; preparation and empowerment of candidates for further selection, and on-time referral of suitable candidates to the requesting agents.
