Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs hosts supplier diversity day, 30 Nov

Unlocking SMMEs opportunities in ICT, 30 November 2018

The department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs in collaboration with Old Mutual and Oracle will be hosting the supplier diversity day at First National Bank Regional Offices tomorrow on the 30th November 2018.

Through this networking session suppliers in ICT sector will be given a platform to interact and present business opportunities. Under the theme: “Accelerating Women in Rural and Township Communities”, the workshop will help small businesses in their procurement of goods and services, and will assist corporates to increase awareness about their supplier development initiatives and enterprise development programmes.

This workshop will also provide opportunities to corporates to have relationships with SMMEs which eventually will have bearing on their profiles and improve their B-BBEE score cards.

Some of the discussions will be centred on:

  • The effects the 4th Industrial Revolution will have for South Africa
  • Effects on the country’s work-force (disintegration of current jobs and new emerging jobs)
  • What are the new skills to fulfil new jobs
  • SMME’s relevance in The Revolution & preparation thereof
  • Automation
  • Government’s Participation
  • Disruptive technology and how SMMEs can leverage off these
  • Effects of WOAN for consumers & businesses
