ECdoE to launch multi-million rands' worth of job creation projects

The Eastern Cape Department of Education’s (ECDoE) MEC, Mandla Makupula will on Friday, 20 June 2014, officially launch the department’s multi-million rand worth Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) projects at the Uitenhage Town Hall at 10h00.

The EPWP programme initiated by the national government is aimed at creating work prospects. It is also implemented by all spheres of government (provincial departments and municipalities) across four sectors namely Infrastructure, Social, Non-State, Environment and Culture.

The programmes to be launched on Friday during the event are tailor-made to enhance and support the department’s core business which is teaching and learning in schools. Additionally, the programme will create work opportunities in all the 23 education districts.

Coupled with the launch will be careers expo by further education and training colleges (FET) and universities for local learners.
