Eastern Cape Premier Ms Noxolo Kiviet turns attention to Amathole District and Buffalo City Metro

Eastern Cape Premier Ms Noxolo Kiviet will tomorrow continue giving away gift vouchers and groceries worth R240 000 to 200 poor families in the Amathole District and Buffalo City Metro. The programme is amied at ensuring that the beneficiaries also enjoy the festive season like the rest of other people in the province.

"Many of our people live in poverty and this programme is meant to show them that the government of the Eastern Cape cares about them and will continue to do more to lift them out of poverty. We call on other citizens of our province to show ubuntu and share with the less fortunate during this festive season”, Premier Kiviet said.

Included in the grocery packs are items such as 10kgs for rice, sugar, mealie meal, samp and other items. The Premier together with SASSA have invested over R1 500 000.00 in the programme this year benefiting over 900 families in the province. People from Zwelitsha, KomgaLibode, Lusikisiki, Qumbu, Flagstaff were on hand to receive their goodies today.

In Amathalo District beneficiaries from Butterworth, Peddie, Alice, Dutywa and other rural areas will gather at Komga Town Hall to recieve their goodies. In Buffalo City Metro beneficiaries from KWT, Mdantsane, East London and surounding areas will converge in Zwelitsha Town Hall to get their goodies.  

The events start at 10h00 in both areas respectively.
