Eastern Cape MEC for Transport Thandiswa Marawu will officially launch the provincial 2012/13 Festive Season Arrive Alive Campaign at the Mt Frere Town Hall on Friday, 23 November at 9h00.
This year’s campaign will be further strengthened by the continued intensification of “Operation Asihleki”, which is the provincial campaign that contributes to the implementation of the National Rolling Enforcement Plan and “Operation Kwanele”, a campaign targeting 927 km N2 from the Western Cape to KwaZulu-Natal borders.
With the launch of the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011 – 2020, road safety has moved from being a national and a continental issue to being a global challenge.
As part of the launch the department’s trading entity will also hand over 36 new vehicles to provincial traffic officers.
