Legislature holds debate on xenophobic attacks

Tomorrow, 13 May 2015, the Legislature will convene a House Sitting to consider Questions for Oral Reply, Matters of Public Importance and reports of various Portfolio/Standing Committees.

This sitting will be the first House Sitting since the outbreak of xenophobic attacks across the country and will see MPLs debate the issue of xenophobia expressing their views on the matter. The debate will be a build-up to Africa Day which is scheduled to take place before the end of the month.

Expected to attend this Sitting is the  Executive of the African countries structures (CASINA), Local African Organisations, Academic Institutions, NGO coalition, Religious Organisations, Political Parties, SANCO, Business Sector and Youth Organisations.

The Legislature saw it necessary to add its voice in condemning the recent attacks on foreign nationals.
