The Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature will hold its 9th annual Taking Legislature to the People in the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Municipality. This programme forms an integral part of the Legislature’s public participation and education initiative to strengthen participatory democracy in the Province.
It is also aimed to give Members of the Provincial Legislature (MPLs) an understanding of the realities on the ground through direct interaction with the public. The Legislature views participatory democracy as a fundamental principle which gives the people an opportunity to participate on matters affecting their lives.
Members of the public are encouraged to attend this three day Sitting for a direct interaction with the Premier of the Province, Members of the Executive Council (MECs) and MPLs. The Honourable Speaker, Ms Noxolo Kiviet (MPL), will preside over the Sitting scheduled to take place as follows:
