Eastern Cape Human Settlements, Safety and Liaison, MEC Helen Sauls-August to hand over shoes to Fort Beaufort School

The staff members at Human Settlements will spread goodwill when MEC of Human Settlements, Safety and Liaison, Helen Sauls-August, hands over much needed donations to Readsdale Primary School. The donations include 48 school shoes, three computers, painting and two lavatories. This forms part of the Readsdale Primary School Refurbishment Project, spearheaded by the department’s Youth Development Forum.

The school requested the department to donate school shoes during the 2013 Mandela Day Celebrations. Heeding to this call, staff members donated an amount of R3 530.00. Other stakeholders, who include Department of Water Affairs, Home Affairs, the South African Police Service (SAPS), Nkonkobe Local Municipalty, Eastern Cape Parks Board, building contractors, the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA), will donate water gutters, school bags, stationary and food parcels for 80 identified households.

This forms part of the Joe Slovo Month programme, which includes visits to schools to motivate matric learners for their upcoming final examinations, handover of houses and social amenities throughout the province.
