DoL and German counterparts to exchange views on labour markets

A three-day top level meeting between Department of Labour officials and their counterparts from the German Ministry of labour and social affairs is to be held at Emperor’s Palace, near Kempton Park from Monday where the parties would exchange views on developments in their respective labour market.

The South African delegation will be led by Sam Morotoba, Deputy Director-General for Public Employment Services (Pes) as well as Les Kettledas, Deputy Director-Deneral for Labour Market Policy while the German team will be led by Markus Loebbert.

The meeting will see Alexander Shahatit, from the German ministry of labour and social affairs giving a presentation on the legislative framework of temporary employment and its meaning for employment policy. Further inputs will be made on the co-operation of public employment agency with temporary employment agencies.

The meeting is a follow up to one held by the two in 2011.

It will be preceded by on-site visits to the Boksburg Labour Centre as well as a selected occupational health and safety site and the office of the Compensation Fund.
