Department of Labour’s Director General, Lamati to address Women’s Day celebration

The Department of Labour’s Director General, Thobile Lamati, is to address female staff members from the Department of Labour and its entities and Funds: the Unemployment Insurance Fund, Compensation Fund and Supported Employment Enterprises (SEE to commemorate Women’s Day in Rustenburg, North West Province tomorrow (August 23).

The Women’s celebration event will take place at Kgaswane Country Lodge and Spa in Rustenburg, North West. The event will start from 08:30-14:00.

The 2018 women’s month is observed under the theme, 100 years of Albertina Sisulu: Women of Fortitude: Women United in Moving South Africa Forward.

During the Women’s Day celebration Lamati will speak about the role the Department’s women play in their selfless efforts to serve the country and its people with dignity and honour, while ensuring that the Department keeps  true to its mandate of servicing its clients who are beneficiaries of various grants and services.

The Women’s Day celebration will be followed on August 24 by a breakfast session, aimed at addressing employment challenges in the region, the Department and the municipality will engage representatives from different stakeholders including organised employers, unions and communities. It will be held at Protea Hunters Rest, Rustenburg Protea Hunters Rest, Rustenburg from 08:00-11:00 am.

On Saturday (August 25) there will be a campaign to deliver a package of the Department’s services to communities in partnership with other government departments within the province. This will be held at Old Town Hall, (next to Rustenburg Local Municipality offices) from 08:00-16:00.

The engagements are part of the office of the Deputy Minister iNkosi Phathekile Holomisa and the Director General’s effort to bring services closer to communities hence the project named “Taking Department of Labour’s services to the people”.
