Members of the media invited to the World Tuberculosis (TB) Day commemorations to be addressed by the Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe in his capacity as Chairperson of the National AIDS Council (SANAC).
The Deputy President will be accompanied by the Minister of Health, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, Minister of Correctional Services, Mr S'bu Ndebele, MEC for Health, Mr Theuns Botha as well as partners in the fight against TB.
Inmates are identified in the National Strategic Plan as being vulnerable to contracting TB. Deputy President Motlanthe will hand over six GeneXpert machines to the Minister of Correctional Services as a demonstration of government’s commitment to the eradication TB infection in our prisons.
