Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe has convened a meeting of key role players in the Mining industry to be held on Friday 14 June 2013 at the Sefako Makgatho Presidential Guest House in Pretoria.
The meeting is part of government's efforts to engage role players in mining to stabilise the mining industry and work towards a sustainable solution to the current problems afflicting the industry.
President Jacob Zuma in May appointed a government task team led by Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe to engage role players in the mining industry with a view to stabilise the industry.
The other members of the task team are the Ministers of Finance, Mineral Resources and Labour. The Deputy President has over the past two weeks held discussions with trade unions, federations and the Chamber of Mines to kick start the engagement process.
The following organisations are expected to attend the meeting on Friday: UASA, NUM, AMCU, Solidarity, NACTU, COSATU, the Chamber of Mines and South African Mining Development Association.
