Deputy Minister Zou Kota-Fredericks addresses the African Forum for Urban Safety inaugural meeting, 30 Nov

Creating an environment that fosters sharing and effective applications of knowledge to improve safety and security for African cities to grow as homes of prosperity

Human Settlements Deputy Minister, Zou Kota-Fredericks will address the African Forum for Urban Safety (AFUS) inaugural meeting in Johannesburg.  

AFUS will provide a platform that will enable and facilitate peer to peer knowledge sharing and joint knowledge generation, support and collaboration. This forum will ensure that evidence based learning is utilized to inform urban policy, planning and management in order to build safer cities in Africa.

The event will be attended by the Chairperson of the African Union, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations and Deputy Executive Director of UN-Habitat, Dr Aisa Kirabo-Kacyira, Director Programme Division, UN-Habitat, Dr Alioune Badiane, City of Joburg Mayor, Cllr Parks Tau, Mayor of eThekwini and Chair of AFUS, Cllr James Nxumalo, Local Government Association Representatives, Various UN agencies, International organisations and City Mayors.
