The Deputy Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs, Ms. Rejoice Mabudafhasi, in conjunction with the Breede-Overberg Catchment Management Agency (BOCMA) is hosting a conference for Resource Poor Farmers in the Breede Water Management Area on Thursday, 30 May 2013.

The aim of the conference is to promote active stakeholder participation in the management of water resources, acknowledge the important role resource poor farmers play in the economy and food security and showcase successful resource poor farmer projects through sharing experiences and lessons learned.

This conference is an ideal platform to showcase the services offered by BOCMA and will provide an opportunity to the resource poor farmers to find out more about possible funding opportunities.

Deputy Minister of Mabudafhasi says “Water has the potential to employ local workers in farming, and to provide skills development, hence the need to engage resource poor farmers.”
