Deputy Minister Tobias-Pokolo to speak to the young people of Welgeval, North West

The Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Ms Thandi Tobias-Pokolo will speak to the young people of Welgeval, North-West at the youth empowerment outreach event that will be hosted by the Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) at the Madutle Community Hall, on Friday, 4 October 2013 from 09h00. 

The purpose of the outreach is to encourage the youth of Welgeval to establish businesses, particularly cooperatives, in an effort to create employment for themselves and other members of the community. They will also be informed about how to access financial and non-financial assistance from the dti and its agencies.

Deputy Minister Tobias-Pokolo says the youth empowerment outreach programme will inform and educate young people on the partnerships, programmes and support offered by the dti youth directorate to stimulate youth economic empowerment through youth enterprise creation.

“The youth outreach is also aimed at disseminating information and educating young entrepreneurs about services available to start, grow and sustain their businesses and to assist in forming businesses at community level in various sectors to encourage entrepreneurship that promote rural development, employment creation and poverty eradication,” says Tobias-Pokolo.

The youth will have an opportunity to interact with officials from the dti and its agencies including the Small Enterprise Development Agency (Seda), Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC), National Youth Development Agency (NYDA), South African Revenue Services (SARS), Industrial Development Incentive Administration Division (IDIAD), and the Cooperatives Unit of the dti.
