Deputy Minister Thembi Nkadimeng to address Informal Spotlight Session on Achieving SDGs and a Sustainable and Inclusive Recovery From Covid-19

Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA), Deputy Minister, Ms Thembi Nkadimeng, will address the Informal spotlight session on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and a viable and inclusive recovery from the covid-19 pandemic through partnerships and sound governance.

The session is organised by the Local Authorities Major Group, gathered within the Global Taskforce of Local and Regional Governments and in partnership with Open Government Partnership and International IDEA. The session will count on the participation of representatives of local and regional governments, and their networks, representatives of civil society and other actors from around the world.

They will share how, through their experiences, the achievement of the SDGs is strengthened by putting communities, local public service provision, solid partnerships, and sound governance at the centre.

The session will particularly illustrate innovative partnerships formed between local and regional governments and civil society and how other actors can contribute to strengthening them towards the implementation of the SDGs and the achievement of greater transparency and accountability.
