The Department of Trade and Industry (the dti), in partnership with the Moses Kotane Local Municipality will be hosting the "Taking the dti to the People" outreach event at Mantserre Community Hall, in Mantserre Village, North West. The event will take place on Tuesday, 8 April 2014, starting at 8h00. The Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Ms Elizabeth Thabethe, will deliver the keynote address.
The "Taking the dti to the People" campaign is a platform that aims to empower communities with information and enable them to utilise the information to take advantage of opportunities offered by government. It also seeks to build community capacity with the aim of addressing current economic issues in order to accelerate job creation and sustainable economic development in the country. The outreach also creates awareness about products and services offered by the dti and its agencies.
Aspiring entrepreneurs and SMMEs in Mantserre and the surrounding areas, will get an opportunity to engage with Deputy Minister Thabethe and other officials from the Small Enterprise Development Agency (seda), the National Empowerment Fund (NEF), the National Credit Regulator (NCR), Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) and the dti's Industrial Development Incentive Administration division (IDIAD)to learn more about accessing services offered by the department and these agencies.
The outreach solidifies government's commitment to work together with communities to encourage sharing and create structures which give genuine participation and involvement, to better the lives of all South Africans.
