Deputy Minister Surty continues one school a week campaign as Kha Ri Gude graduates get rewarded for their efforts

The Deputy Minister of Basic Education, Mr Enver Surty will give an address and officially hand-Over Gungubele Primary School in Libode on Friday, 22 November 2013. The Deputy Minister will also reward the Kha RI Gude mass literacy graduates who will be receiving their graduation certificates the same day.

Gungubele Primary School was built as part of the ASIDI (Accelerated Schools Infrastructure Delivery Initiative) by the Department of Basic Education and under the banner of the broader Presidential Infrastructure Coordinating Commission.

ASIDI aims to eradicate all mud schools and inappropriate structures, as well refurbish dilapidated and ill equipped schools and has a National Output plan which will see the eradication of 496 mud schools, the provision of water and sanitation to 1 257 schools and electricity to 878 schools.

The Kha Ri Gude, the Mass Literacy Campaign was launched in February 2008 with the intention of enabling 4, 7 million adults above the ages of 15 years to become literate and numerate. The program has been a huge success story and continues to liberate and empower.
