Deputy Minister Mabudafhasi to perform community service at the National Library of South Africa

Arts and Culture Deputy Minister, Ms Rejoice Mabudafhasi, will perform community service as part of the Mandela Month activities, on Monday 27 July 2015, at the National Library of South Africa (NLSA).

The Deputy Minister worked as a librarian for 29 years at the University of Limpopo (Turfloop). It is for this reason that she decided to perform community service as a librarian at the National Library of South Africa in honour of Tata Mandela.

Her duties will include amongst others registration of users on the personal request form for statistics purposes, handle general reference queries from the public in person (at the desk), via telephone, fax or email and as allocated by the supervisor, assist users to allocate and retrieve publications within the Reading Room collection, assist with booking of discussion rooms and internet sessions, provide reference services on site by conducting reference interviews and analysing the information needs of the user, making photocopies for users within the bounds of copyright Act as well as issuing invoices, receive cash and provide receipts for services rendered according to board approved tariffs.

The Deputy Minister will be joined by the National Librarian and CEO of the National Library of South Africa, Professor Rocky Ralebipi-Simela and the friends of the national library.
