Deputy Minister Rejoice Mabudafhasi hands over gifts to Ebenezer Welfare Centre in Bushbuckridge, 28 Sept

The Deputy Minister of Arts and Culture, Ms Rejoice Mabudafhasi will hand over gifts to Ebenezer Welfare Centre on Monday, 28 September 2015 at Ebenezer Welfare Centre, Shatale Township in Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga Province.

The Ebenezer Welfare Centre is a community-based, non-profit organisation, which was established during the year 1998 but it was officially registered on 17 October 2001. The centre provide a residential facility which caters for orphans as well as other vulnerable children and youth from birth to 18 years of age ensuring that they have shelter, clothing, 3 meals a day and that their basic needs are met.

They centre also run an after school programme where children are assisted with their homework, they take part in physical activities and are provided with life skills training. The centre also provides counselling and home-based care services for sick people and elderly persons.

The Ebenezer Welfare Centre approached the Deputy Minister Hon Rejoice Mabudafhasi requesting that she helps the centre in acquiring anything from blankets, pillows sheets, towels and slippers for 32 children in need of care who are residing at the centre. Consequently, the Deputy Minister will donate the following items: morning slippers, Sheets, Duvet covers and Towels.

Prior to the handover, the Deputy Minister will kick start her programme at Sekhukhusa high school to roll out the Department of Arts and Culture’s Flag in Every School Campaign, which involves hoisting of the national flag, the correct etiquette of singing the National Anthem, the recital of the Preamble of the Constitution by the learners, distribution of the South African flags and publications on national symbols as well as the CD Tool Kit on how to sing the African Union and the National Anthems.
