The Deputy Minister of Arts & Culture, Ms Rejoice Mabudafhasi and the MEC of Sport, Arts and Culture, Ms Nandi Ndalane will conduct an Imbizo with the crafters in Polokwane, Limpopo on Tuesday, 12 May 2015. The Imbizo is part of the Deputy Minister’s visits across the country aimed at providing a platform for the crafters to share ideas on how to better organise, coordinate and develop the sector.
The craft sector has long being acknowledged as one of the strategic sectors for socio-economic development and job creation in the country. Despite this, many challenges still beset this sector. These challenges range from access to information, access to viable markets, access to reasonably priced raw materials for craft production as well as access to finance.
Prior to the Imbizo, the Deputy Minister will hoist the national flag at Thakgalang Primary School in Seshego Zone 2, Polokwane. The flag-hoisting ceremony is part of the Department of Arts & Cultures’ Flag in Every School campaign that seeks to promote national identity, instil the spirit of patriotism, love for our country, nation building and social cohesion. The events will take place as follows:
