Presidency Deputy Minister Pinky Kekana to conduct frontline monitoring of the Postmasburg flooding disaster area, Nothern Cape

Deputy Minister in the Presidency Ms. Pinky Kekana, will conduct a frontline monitoring of the flooding disaster area in Tsantsabane Local Municipality’s Postmasburg, Northern Cape, on 20 October 2022.

The Tsantsabane Local Municipality was hit by heavy rains and winds during the week of 10-24th April 2022. These caused damages to houses and road infrastructure. This visit forms part of the Pre-Presidential Imbizo Programs in the Northern Cape Province, under the theme: Accelerating District Development – Leaving no one Behind through Integrated Planning, Monitoring and Evaluations.

The monitoring visit will ascertain progress of following:

  • Municipal Provincial and District interventions post the flooding disaster;
  • Gaining understanding through briefing sessions with the key stakeholders during the flooding disaster; and
  • Discussion of interventions of mitigating a repetition of similar disasters.
